Did bonfire night cause a major pile-up on the M5 last weekend?

The organisers of a firework display at the Taunton Rugby Club are now in the midsts of  a  “major line of inquiry” after Friday’s fatal M5 crash.

Police have not established what caused the crash but said “a bank of smoke” had been across the M5 at the time.

The 34-vehicle pile-up happened at junction 25, near Taunton, at about 20:30 on Friday. 51 people were injured and 7 people lost their lives in the pile-up.

It is an offence for anyone lighting a fire and allowing the smoke to drift across a road, which endangers traffic or causes injury.  Accountability is clearly something that we will be looked into and the major crime teams and collision investigators from the road policing unit were working on the investigation.

Here at MLP Injury lawyers we have extensive experience of dealing with motorway accidents.
